About Moreton Bay Civil Contractors

Moreton Bay Civil Contractors (MBCC) was founded in 2008 when Paul van der Meer saw an opportunity to deliver reliable, high‑quality civil construction services to the rapidly growing Moreton Bay region. As the area evolved from a collection of local communities into the City of Moreton Bay, MBCC grew alongside it, built on workmanship, trust, and long‑standing relationships with council and local clients.

Tom Sweeney joined MBCC in its founding year and quickly developed a broad and practical skill set across road widening, footpaths, car parks, new roads, and subdivision works. His early years included memorable projects such as delivering footpaths and associated infrastructure along the iconic Jinker Track, a 22‑kilometre recreation corridor through Bunyaville National Park.

Community service has always been part of MBCC’s identity. During the devastating 2011 Brisbane floods, MBCC supplied machinery and operators pro bono to assist with the clean‑up. The team later travelled across the Darling Downs, Dalby, Tara, Roma, and surrounding towns, supporting local shires with flood‑recovery works. These experiences shaped MBCC’s culture: practical capability paired with genuine care for the communities we serve.

In 2017, recognising the need for responsible disposal and reuse of construction materials, Paul established Moreton Bay Recyclers (MBR). Tom joined as Yard Manager while MBCC continued its civil operations. After successfully growing MBR, Paul sold the business in 2020 and went on to establish Yellowstone Landscaping Supplies, further complementing MBCC’s service offering. Tom continued working alongside Paul until 2026, when Paul stepped back into semi‑retirement and entrusted Tom with the future of MBCC. Today, MBCC enters its next chapter under Tom’s leadership, continuing the legacy of dependable civil construction services, strong community values, and a commitment to delivering projects that support the growth and liveability of the Moreton Bay region and beyond.
